Corner Brook, Newfoundland July 15, 2014
Sunny 70 degrees Sunset 9:21 pm
Corner Brook has a population of 22,000 and is Newfoundland’s second largest city and a gateway to the many scenic areas of the province. Marble Mountain is located just outside of town. Fish and brewies is the taste of the area. It is salt cod and a hard tack biscuit.
We had our normal omelet, raisin bun and strawberries breakfast about 9:00am. The ship had already been cleared. We headed off about 10:00am. They had a nice area set up near the bus where you could taste some taffy and get a free luggage tags laminated. They had 6 different pictures to choose from. We caught the free shuttle into town. Corner Brook is a nice town. The bus let us off at the main square. There were lots of cruisers sitting out on the benches enjoying the sunny weather. We wandered off toward Tim Hortons. An apple fritter and 10 timbits later, I was on the free wifi.
We left town and caught a cab to Walmart. There were a couple of items we did not pack. We got what we needed plus water and some munchies for the cabin. Saw lots of other cruisers and some of the staff we have met on the ship. The staffers were really stocking up. We shared a cab back to the ship with another couple.
Got back around 1:00 pm. Nice day so far and time for lunch. Fish and chips for lunch and red velvet cupcake. After lunch we went out back to get some pictures and sat in the sun for a bit. I actually burnt my arms and ankles. Glad I brought the aloe. We sat out on the promenade deck and watched sailaway. This is a beautiful area.
Dinner was great again. Green chile and corn chowder soup and shrimp and grits. Dessert was chocolate cake with blueberry whipped cream.
Little casino work after dinner. Mom and I doubles our money and then I hit a small win on my favorite machine.
It was a comedy show last night with Billy Garan. He was good. We had seen him before. After that it was back to room and time for lights out.
Sweet dreams from the MS Veendam.
