August 3, 2014 Sea Day
Partly Cloudy, 52 degrees Sunset 9:30
It was a lazy, lazy sea day. We got an hour back last night. The only planned event I attended was Good Morning Veendam with the Captain. He was very interesting, as always.
We have an Artic Themed Towel Creation Competition going on. The Stateroom Attendants made some wonderful artic themed towel creations. They are on the Lido until Tuesday for us to vote on. The top three win a nice shore excursion in Reykjavik. This Captain is really into his crew. Some of these animals are pretty amazing.
The rest of the day was reading and just being on vacation. Mom and I we in the library playing Sequence about 4:00pm. This lady on a scooter came racing out of the library turning the corner and knocked into a man. Luckily he was sitting down at the time. She jarred him and bounced off like a bumper car and kept going up the hall yelling back oh misjudged, sorry. They are going to need to start posting speed limits soon!
Dinner was good tonight. A plate of fresh avocado to start with, cream of chicken soup next and fish with macaroni and cheese. The fish was trout and was very good. Usually the mac and cheese is too heavy to have on its own. So, Peter got mom and me each trout with mashed potatoes and then brought a dish of mac and cheese for us to share. We ate all the mac it was so good. We looked at the menu for tonight and decided to go with mac and cheese again.
We hit the casino afterwards and left ahead for the night. I think I hit a bonus on every machine I played and twice doubled the money. The night we left Lerwick, Barry in the piano bar was playing Scottish/Irish songs. His last one for the 1st set was the unicorn song. You know it…Green alligators and long neck geese, some humpty back camels and some chimpanzees, rats and cats and elephants, and sure as your born, you’re never gonna see no unicorns. Well, he added choreography to it for us. It has lots of versus and we killed the chorus. All 3 of us have been singing that song for 2 days. It is a catchy tune.
The Captain said there is a storm behind us so it will rock us to sleep tonight. Good night from the Unicorn singing MS Veendam.
